JAMS neutral Hon. James "Jay" C. Francis IV (Ret.) will be among the speakers at “AI Ethics - How to Achieve Compliance in the New World 2024.” This program will address the cutting-edge ethical issues arising out of the use of AI. Panelists will examine the ethical rules at play when selecting and using AI tools, especially rules governing the protection of client information, communication with clients, competent representation, supervision and independent professional judgment. This panel of judges, in-house counsel, plaintiffs’ counsel and defense counsel in civil litigation will also cover ethical issues counsel should be aware of that are on the horizon, as AI legal technology continues to evolve. 

Hon. James "Jay" C. Francis IV (Ret.) will be speaking on the panel, “Protection of Client Information, Ethical Communication and Consent with Clients in the Selection and Use of AI Tools” at 1:45 PM.

This panel will help participants to:

  • Understand the Model Rule of Professional Conduct 1.6(a) regarding protection of client information
  • Understand the Model Rule of Professional Conduct 1.4 regarding communication with clients
  • Understand the ethical guidance set forth in the new ABA Formal Opinion 512
