2024 Equal Access to Justice Award Luncheon

JAMS is a proud sponsor of the 2024 Equal Access to Justice Award Luncheon hosted by Metropolitan Family Services. 

The mission of the Legal Aid Society (LAS) is to protect and strengthen families by providing equal access to justice for all by focusing on the most vulnerable communities, including low-income families, the elderly, and victims of domestic violence & crime. LAS provides free legal representation to more than 20,000 Chicagoans each year, and families receive wraparound supports from Metropolitan Family Services.

This year, the organization will present the Steven R. Gilford Pro Bono Award for the first time. The award honors law firms, corporations, or attorneys who display a strong commitment to the fundamental principles of equal protection and equal justice in the community through outstanding pro bono service. This year’s award will be presented to Proskauer Rose LLP. As both a JAMS neutral and as a Partner at Proskauer, Mr. Gilford was a dedicated Board member, donor and advocate of Metropolitan Family Services and the Legal Aid Society for 24 years until his passing in 2023.
