Before and After Mediation: Being in the Room Where it Happened

Presented by the Washington State Bar Association

Locations Seattle 2000x600
Date

1.00 Law & Legal Procedure

A mediation’s effectiveness is shaped long before the parties sit down at the table - and the work doesn’t end when the session concludes. This program will provide practical strategies for maximizing the value of mediation by focusing on the critical steps that occur both before and after the session itself.

Topics will include how to evaluate the timing of mediation, select the right mediator, determine the appropriate format, and prepare effective submissions. The presenters will also address the role of pre-session calls and post-mediation evaluations (“M&Ms”) in advancing resolution.

JAMS neutrals S. Karen Bamberger, Esq. and David M. Schoeggl, Esq. will share insights from their extensive ADR practices, offering attendees concrete tools to strengthen their preparation, manage client expectations, and improve settlement outcomes.

Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of how to leverage each stage of the process to optimize resolution.
