Remembering George D. Calkins II

George D. Calkins II, Esq., JAMS neutral and nationally recognized mediator, passed away on January 9, 2023

George graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles and earned his J.D from Loyola Law School at Loyola Marymount University. He joined Cox, Castle & Nicholson, where his tenure spanned over three decades, during which time he became a partner and served on the firm’s executive committee.

With over 55 years of legal experience, including 20 years as a neutral, George was highly respected and received multiple awards for his depth of knowledge, use of innovative settlement strategies and creativity. His friend and peer Ken Gibbs, Esq., said it was a “pleasure to help recruit him to JAMS” and that “he will be missed by me and all counsel who worked in construction law.”

George is survived by his daughter, Kara, and four grandchildren. He will be greatly missed at JAMS as both a neutral and a friend.
