Miami – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Ted E. Bandstra (Retired Chief US Magistrate Judge) to its panel. Mr. Bandstra will be based in the JAMS Miami Resolution Center. He will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of disputes including Business/Commercial, Civil Rights, Class Action/Mass Torts, Construction, Employment, Insurance, Intellectual Property, Maritime/Admiralty, Personal Injury/Torts, Real Property and Securities.
Mr. Bandstra joins JAMS after serving as a United States Magistrate Judge in Miami for nearly 25 years. During that time, he distinguished himself as both a federal trial judge and a mediator in more than 5,000 cases. He presided over trials and hundreds of settlement conferences, supervising pretrial discovery and deciding dispositive motions. Prior to his judicial service, Mr. Bandstra was engaged in commercial litigation where he developed an expertise in medical malpractice cases.
“Mr. Bandstra has successfully mediated hundreds of cases that resulted in amicable settlements in even the most complex or contentious cases,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “His hands on nature and impressive years of experience will make him an excellent addition to our already robust panel in Miami.”
“My background as a successful settlement judge has given me invaluable experience that will help me work with sparring sides to resolve their issues,” said Mr. Bandstra. “I’m excited to continue serving as a neutral and help parties reach a resolution. I also look forward to joining the talented panel and the top notch case management team in Miami.”
Mr. Bandstra graduated with his B.A. from Calvin College in Michigan and earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from University of Miami School of Law. He’s certified by the Florida Supreme Court and meets all the requirements for certification from the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida to serve as a civil mediator.
