Friedman (Ret.) has been awarded by Bet Tzedek, The House of Justice, with the Rose L. Schiff Commitment to Justice Award. This accolade recognizes Judge Friedman for his outstanding commitment to the organization for the past 35 years, and his leadership and commitment to equal justice for all.
Judge Friedman has a long history of leadership in the provision of pro bono legal services. As a practicing lawyer, he served as a staff attorney for the Western Center on Law and Poverty and as the Executive Director of Bet Tzedek Legal Services. He is a member of the board of directors at Bet Tzedek and the Board of Advocates of Human Rights First. Judge Friedman has also been an active member in, and served as Board President for the Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles.
