The highest honor presented by the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law, the Cornerstone Award recognizes a member who has rendered long-term exceptional service to the construction industry, to the public and to the legal profession. JAMS neutrals Philip L. Bruner, Esq., John W. Hinchey, Esq., and Deborah S. Ballati, Esq., FCIArb, are previous recipients of this award.
The Forum on Construction Law is the largest organization of construction lawyers in the world. Its roughly 6,000 members and associates are drawn from law firms large and small, solo practitioners, in-house and government counsel, construction professionals and the public sector.
Ms. O’Neal’s breadth of experience handling complex, high-stakes disputes within the construction industry has cemented her as a leader and esteemed member of the legal community. Ms. O’Neal joined JAMS in 2023 with over 40 years’ experience handling construction and complex commercial litigation matters in private practice, as in-house counsel for an ENR top 25 commercial general contractor and as an alternative dispute resolution processional. She has substantial experience with managing and litigating disputes involving design and construction defects, mold and water intrusion, construction delays, and defaults, payment and performance bond claims and insurance claims.
In her role at JAMS, Ms. O’Neal serves as an arbitrator, mediator and neutral evaluator, handling business and commercial, construction, construction defect, governmental and public agency, insurance and surety disputes.
The Cornerstone Award was presented at the ABA Forum on Construction Law Annual Meeting, held from April 12 to April 14.
