Los Angeles – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Edith R. Matthai has been recognized with the 2024 Lee B. Wenzel Civility Award by the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). The award was presented at the 2024 President’s Dinner and Installation on Friday, January 19.
The Lee B. Wenzel Civility Award was established in 1993 and is presented annually to the attorney who regularly demonstrates professionalism, civility, graciousness and high moral and ethical standards, as exemplified by Mr. Wenzel. Founded in 1958, ABOTA is an invite-only national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges. ABOTA, its regional chapters and its members are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Ms. Matthai is exceptionally skilled in understanding the needs and viewpoints of each party in a case—a skill that is vital for alternative dispute resolution—and approaches each case with balance, creativity and a keen eye for finding a solution. Ms. Matthai leads with integrity and compassion, which reinforces the respect held for her by her peers within the legal community. We congratulate her on this well-deserved award.
