Hon. Kira L. Klatchko (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Century City
Former judge and civil appellate law specialist joins JAMS as an arbitrator, mediator, court-appointed neutral (special master/referee) and neutral evaluator
Century City, Calif. – JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Kira L. Klatchko (Ret.) has joined its panel. She brings extensive judicial and appellate experience and a practical, court-informed approach to dispute resolution.
Judge Klatchko served nine years on the Superior Court of California, Riverside County. For seven of those years, she presided over an unlimited civil department and managed thousands of matters from inception through resolution. She developed deep experience in business, real estate, land use, construction, contract, employment, catastrophic personal injury, professional negligence, civil rights, insurance, trust, government and complex matters. She also sat for two years in an independent family law department, handling marital dissolution, custody and support, among other issues.
Based in the Century City Resolution Center, Judge Klatchko will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, court-appointed neutral (special master/referee) and neutral evaluator, handling appellate, business and commercial, real estate and real property, employment, construction, civil rights, government and public agency, professional liability and family law matters. She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
“Judge Klatchko has built a strong reputation for effectively managing high-volume civil calendars, and her background as an appellate practitioner adds meaningful depth to her perspective. She is widely recognized for her preparation, thoughtful approach and ability to help parties navigate complex and challenging issues. We are pleased to welcome her to the panel.”
Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president
Judge Klatchko twice served as a justice pro tempore on the California Court of Appeal, Second District, authoring appellate opinions and reviewing writ petitions in civil, criminal, family, juvenile and complex cases. Before joining the bench, she was a certified civil appellate law specialist. She has also written and taught extensively on civil procedure and appellate law, including as a senior research fellow at UC Berkeley Law’s California Constitution Center. She has also held several leadership roles, including serving as a past president of the Riverside County Bar Association.
“Serving on the bench gave me insight into the human side of civil disputes, augmenting my background as a civil appellate specialist with a master’s degree in business. I hope to bring that insight and experience to JAMS,” said Judge Klatchko. “This is an exciting new chapter, and I’m eager to help parties resolve their disputes.”
Judge Klatchko earned her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, an MBA from Claremont Graduate University and a B.A., with distinction, from the University of California, Berkeley.
