Experienced jurist and seasoned ADR professional joins as an arbitrator, mediator, court-appointed neutral (special master/referee) and neutral evaluator
Philadelphia – JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Natasha L. Abel (Ret.) has joined following 16 years of experience as a trial attorney, program manager, administrative judge and supervisory administrative judge for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
During her tenure at the EEOC from 2009 to 2025, Judge Abel managed a broad range of employment discrimination cases involving race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation, transgender status and pregnancy), national origin, age, disability and genetic information. As supervisory administrative judge, she oversaw a staff of administrative judges and paralegals, served as the unit chief for the Federal Sector Hearings program and managed a robust ADR program for volunteer mediators.

She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
“Judge Abel’s extensive experience at the EEOC gives her an exceptional understanding of the ins and outs of workplace disputes. Her balanced judgment and deep knowledge of employment and civil rights law will be strong assets to parties navigating complex disputes.”

Earlier in her career, Judge Abel practiced civil litigation in private law firms in California; Washington, D.C.; and Pennsylvania, representing clients in matters involving contracts, product liability, intellectual property, employment, personal injury and medical malpractice. She also served as a pro bono arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Arbitration Center. In addition, she has designed and delivered training for judges and mediators on settlement practices, ethics and case-management efficiency.
“With decades of experience serving as a mediator and settlement judge at the EEOC and as a civil litigator in private practice, I look forward to bringing my calm, respectful and solutions-oriented approach to JAMS,” said Judge Abel.
Judge Abel earned her J.D., cum laude, from California Western School of Law, where she earned American Jurisprudence Awards in trial practice and legal skills. She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California, Riverside.
