Hon. Thomas Drechsler (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Boston
Revered jurist joins JAMS as a mediator, arbitrator and neutral evaluator
Boston – JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Thomas Drechsler (Ret.) has joined its panel. He brings decades of experience as a trial lawyer and Superior Court judge.
Judge Drechsler served on the Massachusetts Superior Court from 2014 to 2026. He handled a broad docket of civil and criminal cases, including business disputes, employment matters, personal injury claims, civil rights actions and serious felony trials. He also successfully presided over a large number of judicial settlement conferences. During his tenure as a regional administrative judge, he was responsible for case management in all civil matters to ensure efficient, fair and equitable case resolutions.
Based in the Boston Resolution Center, Judge Drechsler will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and neutral evaluator, handling employment, civil rights, construction, professional liability, personal injury and mass tort, real estate, insurance, and business and commercial matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

Prior to his judicial service, Judge Drechsler maintained a civil and criminal litigation practice at Byrne & Drechsler LLP from 1983 to 2014. Earlier in his career, he served as an assistant district attorney for approximately six years, giving him a comprehensive perspective from both the prosecution and defense sides of the courtroom. He also clerked for the Massachusetts Superior Court.

Judge Drechsler earned his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School and his B.E., cum laude, from New York University School of Engineering and Science. He additionally earned his M.S. from Polytechnic Institute of New York (now known as NYU Tandon School of Engineering).
