2024 AIPPI World Congress

Join JAMS neutral Ryan Abbott, M.D., Esq., FCIArb at the 2024 International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property World Congress, known as the 2024 AIPPI World Congress, in Hangzhou from October 19-22, 2024. His panel is titled "Pharma I - Is there an Inventor: Drug Discovery & AI" taking place on October 20, 2024. Generative AI represents a popular upcoming research tool in general, also in biopharmaceutical research. This panel will focus on the issues related to patenting AI generated ideas. Questions to be discussed include formal issues such as whether AI generated results can represent an invention as intended in patent law, but in particular focus on the substantive issues: whether AI generated results can be the sole results in support of an invention, whether additional (traditional, real world) data could be or should be presented as further support, and whether there should be an obligation to mark results as being AI generated or real-world generated.
