Forever Chemicals, Evolving Law: Navigating PFAS Issues in 2025

Join JAMS neutrals Hon. Ariel E. Belen (Ret.) & Tamara Lange, Esq. for a PFAS program hosted by the Hispanic National Bar Association Litigation & Dispute Resolution Section.

This virtual CLE program will focus on the current status of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) under the current administration. The panel will present an overview of the current state of PFAS science, an overview of the regulatory status of PFAS in the United States, updates on key PFAS litigation, and evolving insurance considerations to mitigate PFAS risks.

PFAS, often referred to as “forever chemicals,” has become one of the most complex and high-stakes issues in environmental law today, affecting transactional, litigation, and compliance practitioners working with clients across industries. This panel will provide a practical and accessible overview of PFAS for attorneys new to this space and an update under the current administration for those who have been following the PFAS regulatory journey.

Whether you are advising clients on compliance, conducting due diligence, navigating novel issues in PFAS litigation, or simply trying to understand how federal environmental policy shifts under different administrations for the first time, this session will offer valuable insights for your practice.

Welcome Remarks: Hon. Ariel E. Belen (Ret.), Mediator & Arbitrator, JAMS, HNBA Litigation & Dispute Resolution Section Co-Chair
