Los Angeles – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. Charles W. McCoy (Ret.) to its panel. Judge McCoy will be based in the JAMS Los Angeles Resolution Center. He will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of disputes including Antitrust, Business/Commercial, Construction Defect, Employment, Insurance, Personal Injury/Torts and Real Property.
Judge McCoy most recently served as a mandatory settlement judge and was also a presiding judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court. He was a founder and supervising judge of the Complex Litigation Courts, where he was a champion of hands-on case management, early identification of pivotal issues, focused discovery and rational, informed settlements. He has overseen hundreds of successful settlement conferences across a broad span of practice areas.

Judge McCoy graduated with a B.S. from Purdue University and earned his J.D., with honors, from University of Texas School of Law at Austin. He has taught courses to judges on settlement techniques and processes. He was also honored as the 2010 recipient of the Emil Gumpert Award as the Outstanding Jurist in the Field of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
