Chicago – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of James M. Amend, Esq. to its panel. Mr. Amend will be based in the JAMS Chicago Resolution Center and will serve a nationwide client base as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of areas including Intellectual Property, Business/Commercial and Engineering disputes involving technology.
Mr. Amend brings more than 40 years of intellectual property experience to JAMS, including seven years as Chief Circuit Mediator for the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. While there, he mediated more than 500 cases involving appeals from claims of patent infringement and counterclaims for patent invalidity, inequitable conduct and unfair competition arising nationwide from U.S. District Courts, the International Trade Commission and the U.S. Patent Office. These matters spanned a diverse set of technologies, including computers, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, mechanical inventions and industrial processes. He was also a founding member and chairman of the Expert Neutrals Panel of the International Trademark Association.
