WASHINGTON– JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is pleased to announce that four of its neutrals have been named among the top mediators for 2013 in the D.C. metro area by Washingtonian magazine. The honorees are included in the publication’s biennial “Best Lawyers” list, which was published in the December issue.
The JAMS neutrals recognized by Washingtonian are Hon. Howard S. Chasanow (Ret.); Michael K. Lewis, Esq.; Hon. James Robertson (Ret.); and Linda R. Singer, Esq.
“We congratulate our panelists on this significant recognition,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “This is well-deserved acknowledgement of their many years of work and accomplishments in ADR.”
Judge Chasanow joined JAMS after serving on Maryland’s District Court, Circuit Court and Court of Appeals (Maryland Supreme Court). Mr. Lewis has successfully mediated and arbitrated hundreds of complex, multi-party, high profile matters in a wide variety of areas including business/commercial, public policy, employment, environment and governmental matters. As an ADR consultant he has advised dozens of organizations, as well as federal and local courts around the country, and numerous law firms and companies.
Judge Robertson joined JAMS after serving as a U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia for more than 15 years, presiding over a docket that included a broad range of complex federal civil cases. A progressive thinker and innovator, Judge Robertson served on the Judicial Conference Committee on Information Technology for eight years and was its chair from 2003 through 2005.
Ms. Singer has more than 30 years of dispute resolution experience as an arbitrator, mediator, civil litigator and neutral evaluator. She served as a special master to the U.S. District Court, S.D.N.Y., and has been appointed as a mediator by numerous federal and state courts. Ms. Singer pioneered the development of mediation as a practice, training fellow mediators and lawyers throughout the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She has designed ADR processes for private companies, court systems and government agencies.
Washingtonian selected the “Best Lawyers” across 30 legal practice areas. Rankings were based on a survey of Washington, D.C. area members of the American Bar Association and peer nominations, as well as the publication’s own reporting. Honorees represent about one percent of all attorneys in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
