Boston – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is proud to announce that Hon. Elizabeth Butler (Ret.) and Hon. Margaret R. Hinkle (Ret.) were named “Top Women in Law” for 2013 by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. The event celebrates women who have made great professional strides and demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in private practice, the corporate arena, public service and social advocacy.
“We congratulate Judges Butler and Hinkle on their honor of being selected Top Women in Law,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “This is a well-deserved recognition for two very talented Boston panelists.”
Judge Butler joined JAMS after 13 years as a Massachusetts Superior Court judge where she presided over a broad range of civil cases, involving claims of personal injury resulting in death or catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, products liability, employment issues, and insurance coverage, as well as criminal cases, including murder. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she served as a prosecutor and defense attorney. She is known for her warmth and compassion, understanding and grasp of complex issues and ability to resolve difficult disputes, some of which have a high emotional content.
Judge Hinkle joined JAMS in 2011 after serving on the Massachusetts Superior Court as the Administrative Justice of the Business Litigation Section, the preferred statewide forum for the resolution of complex business litigation and commercial disputes. Recognized as one of the Superior Court’s most talented and respected judges, Judge Hinkle is well regarded for her intellect, experience, judgment and work ethic.
The award ceremony will be held at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston on October 31. This year’s keynote speaker is Suzanne M. Bump, the 25th Auditor of the Commonwealth, one of six constitutional officers in Massachusetts, and the first female elected to this role in the state’s history.
