ATLANTA – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Barrett K. Hawks, Esq. to its panel. Mr. Hawks will be based in the JAMS Atlanta Resolution Center and is available for arbitration, mediation and neutral analysis in Business/Commercial, Energy/Utility, Financial Markets and Securities disputes.
Mr. Hawks is a nationally recognized expert in the resolution of complex commercial and energy matters, with substantial experience resolving multi-party conflicts. Following a 44-year career as first as a litigator and then a transactional attorney, Mr. Hawks has provided fulltime mediation, arbitration and neutral analysis services since 2009. He has helped resolve numerous energy matters as head of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP’s Energy and Environmental Practice Group, and as an ADR specialist.
Mr. Hawks’ experience includes service on corporate and non-profit boards, and thus he is keenly aware of the profoundly negative effect on business progress and profitability that legal disputes can have. He has worked closely with CEOs, inside counsel and boards of directors to design business-based solutions to help energy companies avoid or mitigate conflicts.
“Barrett is known as one of the best in the field, with a reputation for working well across the aisle,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “His approach is practical, but also creative and persistent when required. We know he will make an excellent addition to our panel in Atlanta.”
“I’ve long utilized ADR to resolve even the most complex and heated disputes and recognize its value,” said Mr. Hawks. “I look forward to joining JAMS and continue doing this important work with the best of ADR providers.”
Mr. Hawks received his B.B.A. from Emory University School of Business, his LL.B. from Emory University School of Law and LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
