Retired Judge Hon. Steven A. Brick Joins JAMS

New Panelist Announcement

SAN FRANCISCO – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. Steven A. Brick (Ret.). Judge Brick will be based in the JAMS San Francisco Resolution Center and serve as an arbitrator and mediator in a variety of disputes including Antitrust/Competition Law, Business/Commercial, Civil Rights, Class Action/Mass Tort, Education/Schools, Employment, Environmental, Franchise, Governmental/Public Agency, Insurance, Intellectual Property, Personal Injury/Torts, Professional Liability, Real Property and Securities.

Prior to joining JAMS, Judge Brick served as a complex litigation judge in Alameda County from 2008 until 2013. He oversaw scores of consumer and employment class actions and regularly presided over approvals of shareholder, employee and consumer class settlements. Serving as a civil law and motion and a civil trial/case management judge for six years, he resolved hundreds of other civil cases of all kinds, including many business and real estate disputes. More recently, as a Justice Pro Tem of the California Court of Appeal, First District, Division Two, during 2013-2014, Judge Brick authored several published decisions and many unpublished decisions involving civil law issues.

Prior to joining the bench, Judge Brick’s practice consisted primarily of trial and appellate business and employment litigation. He also served as a member of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California Task Force on Alternate Dispute Resolution and helped establish the Court’s pilot programs in ADR.

Judge Brick received his B.A. from Williams College (highest honors in history), Phi Beta Kappa and his J.D. from University of California, Berkeley School of Law, Order of the Coif.
