Retired Judge David Barker Joins JAMS in Las Vegas

Former Chief Judge of the Eighth Judicial District Court serves as a mediator, arbitrator, and special master

New Panelist Announcement

LAS VEGAS – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. David Barker (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Barker will be based in the JAMS Las Vegas Resolution Center and will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and special master in a variety of disputes including Business/Commercial, Construction Defect, Employment, Personal Injury/Torts, Professional Liability and Real Property.

Prior to joining JAMS, Judge Barker served as Chief Judge of the Eighth Judicial District Court for two years before retiring in 2017. While serving as a trial judge, he handled thousands of cases and conducted jury and bench trial on all matters within his jurisdiction. Also a trained mediator, Judge Barker has settled hundreds of cases while on the bench.

Judge Barker is past president of the Nevada District Judges Association and has been one of the most highly rated judges in the state. He has also received a national award from the National Association for Court Management for bringing innovation into to the judicial system. 

Judge Barker’s ability to quickly break down complex issues makes him an excellent addition to our panel. He’s well respected across both sides of the aisle and we’re thrilled to have him join us.

Judge Barker received his B.S. from University of California, Irvine and his J.D. from Pepperdine University Law School.
