CHICAGO – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Steven R. Gilford, Esq. to its panel. Mr. Gilford will be based in the Chicago Resolution Center and serve as a mediator, arbitrator and special master in a variety of disputes including Appellate, Business/Commercial, Civil Rights, Class Action/Mass Tort, Education/Schools, Environmental, Federal, Insurance, International, and Personal Injury/Torts.
Mr. Gilford joins JAMS as a full-time neutral with more than 40 years of experience in litigation, insurance and negotiation of complex settlements. He began his career as an associate and then partner at Isham, Lincoln & Beale before spending 20 years in the litigation and insurance practices of Mayer Brown. In 2008, Mr. Gilford joined Proskauer where he led the opening of its Chicago office, and he served as co-head of its insurance practice from 2008-2017. During his career, Mr. Gilford handled work in a wide range of industries and subject areas, including major contract and commercial disputes, consumer class actions, securities cases, mass tort and personal injury, technology outsourcing, defamation, trademarks, trade secrets and restrictive covenants.
In addition to his extensive litigation experience, Mr. Gilford is nationally recognized in the areas of insurance and reinsurance. He has represented clients in all segments of the insurance industry, including policyholders, insurers, reinsurers, captives and brokers. His experience includes virtually every area of insurance coverage, including CGL, D&O, cyber, E&O, product recall, environmental, employment practices, political risk/transactional and first party property and business interruption.
Steven’s extensive litigation experience across subject areas and particular notoriety in the fields of insurance and reinsurance give him a critical foundation for moving disputes toward resolution. His reputation for creative settlements makes him an excellent addition to our panel in Chicago.
