Los Angeles – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Reva G. Goetz (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Goetz has been a full-time mediator and judge pro tem since 2015 and has successfully mediated and arbitrated hundreds of estate/probate/trusts and family law matters.
Judge Goetz previously served as a judicial officer for 25 years, which included splitting her time between probate and family law assignments. During her time in probate court, she heard hundreds of contested cases, including those with high-value trusts, high-profile conservatorships, undue influence and capacity issues, and highly complex accountings and surcharge petitions. While serving on the family law court, Judge Goetz handled complex dissolutions, addressing issues such as characterization of property; separate and/or community property; high-profile individuals; complex child custody matters, including those involving children with special needs and difficult custodial schedules; business valuations; and support issues.
Based in the Los Angeles Resolution Center, Judge Goetz will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master/referee handling disputes in probate and family law.
Judge Goetz is known for her genuine ability to listen and understand the issues at hand. This, combined with her vast experience, makes her an exceptional addition to the JAMS panel in Los Angeles.
- Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO
Judge Goetz worked as an accountant and financial analyst before serving on the bench, which assisted her in resolving matters involving complex accounting questions that have arisen in her ADR practice. Her colleagues praise her for having a great understanding of complex issues and her ability to reach creative solutions.
Mediating probate and family law matters has given me a unique perspective on reaching settlement. I have resolved hundreds of matters, which I believe can be attributed to my persistence and patience when working with the parties. I am looking forward applying this experience to my new role as a neutral at JAMS.
- Hon. Reva G. Goetz (Ret.), JAMS Neutral
Currently, Judge Goetz is a frequent lecturer on a variety of family law and probate topics, including crossover issues that arise between these two areas of law.
Judge Goetz received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and her J.D. from Whittier College School of Law.
