Hon. David I. Brown (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Sacramento

Former superior court judge joins JAMS as arbitrator, mediator and special master/referee

New Panelist Announcement

Sacramento, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. David I. Brown (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Brown brings over 46 years’ experience in the legal profession. In 2008, Judge Brown was appointed to the Sacramento County Superior Court. Starting in 2010, Judge Brown served in the Law and Motion Department and worked to eliminate the court’s backlog. From 2010 to 2021, he also served in the Civil Settlement Department, settling numerous personal injury claims, business and employment disputes, lemon law cases and professional negligence claims, among others.

Based in the Sacramento Resolution Center, Judge Brown will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master/referee, handling insurance, personal injury and torts, construction, construction defect, real property, professional liability, business and commercial, and employment disputes. He is available to conduct sessions in person (adhering to reopening guidelines) as well as virtually for attorneys and their clients across the country.

Judge Brown is highly respected as an ADR advocate and has a deep knowledge of the law. He has helped parties reach resolution throughout his extensive career, and we believe he will continue to thrive as he begins this new chapter as a neutral with JAMS.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Brown was a co-founder of the Law Offices of Bailey & Brown, where he had an extensive civil litigation practice, handling matters in the following areas: insurance litigation, personal injury, uninsured and underinsured motorist arbitration, professional errors and omissions, insurance coverage litigation, construction defect claims/litigation, employment litigation, administrative proceedings, elder abuse litigation and others. In addition to his civil litigation practice, Judge Brown provided private mediation and arbitration services to the legal community, helping to resolve over 300 cases.

I’m dedicated to serving my community and to resolving disputes in a mutually advantageous way. With preparation and attention to detail, I’ve found great success as I work with parties to understand every element of a case. I’m looking forward to joining the JAMS panel and continuing to do the work I find so fulfilling.

- Hon. David I. Brown (Ret.)

Judge Brown received his B.A., cum laude, from California State University, San Diego and his J.D. from University of California, Davis School of Law.
