Presented annually, the ICON Awards recognize distinguished men and women attorneys ages 60 and older for their exemplary careers and long-standing commitment to the Missouri legal community.
Judge Mooney has an incredible track record of successes both inside and outside the courtroom. He is highly regarded within the legal community for his ability to find creative solutions for parties to reach settlement, and we are pleased to see him recognized for his tremendous work.

For over two decades, Judge Mooney served as a judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, including a term as a chief judge. From 2015 until he left the bench, he worked as the court’s settlement judge. He consistently earned high praise for his timely, high-quality work product and fair treatment of parties. Additionally, Judge Mooney has been a passionate community leader, working for decades to support economic development and the arts in the St. Louis metropolitan region.
Judge Mooney joined JAMS in 2019 as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator. His practice spans a breadth of areas, including appellate, business and commercial, environmental, trusts/estates/probate, government, insurance and personal injury.
A luncheon will be held on August 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis to recognize Judge Mooney and this year’s other ICON Award recipients. More information can be found here.
