Claude M. Stern, Esq., Joins JAMS in Silicon Valley

Intellectual property trial lawyer joins JAMS as mediator, arbitrator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator

New Panelist Announcement

Irvine, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Claude M. Stern, Esq., to its panel. Mr. Stern joins JAMS with over 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer and litigator. During his career, he has gained extensive national experience in all areas of intellectual property, licensing, allegedly defective technology and complex civil litigation.

Mr. Stern served as the co-chair and chair of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan’s national intellectual property litigation practice, the largest practice area within the firm, from 2003 to 2021. He was the lead trial counsel in numerous precedent-setting cases within the intellectual property field. He also has had substantial experience in litigating and settling technology performance class-action cases, particularly involving allegations of defective software and hardware, and has spoken widely on the subject.

Based in the Silicon Valley Resolution Center, Mr. Stern will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator, handling intellectual property, technology, product liability, gaming industry, artificial intelligence and international cases. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country.

Mr. Stern is known within the legal community for his strategic and tactical approach to taking on thorny cases and navigating complex matters while instilling confidence and trust in his clients. His depth of experience has elevated him to the top of his class within the intellectual property space and beyond.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Mr. Stern has tried jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States and has extensive arbitration and mediation experience, as well as extensive litigation experience before various federal and state agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission. In 2006, he served as president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the most prestigious bench-bar educational organization for trial lawyers in California. He has repeatedly been recognized as one of the preeminent intellectual property trial lawyers and litigators in Silicon Valley, California and the United States.

I enjoy digging into new, complex cases and working to leave no stone unturned as I work to find the best outcome for parties. As technology continues to evolve and new challenges emerge, I look forward to continuing my practice and approaching the law with strong attention to detail and empathy for parties involved in dispute resolution.

- Claude M. Stern, Esq.,

Mr. Stern earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of Law.
