Hon. Gary Nadler (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Santa Rosa and San Francisco

Former superior court judge joins JAMS as arbitrator, mediator, special master/discovery referee and neutral evaluator

New Panelist Announcement

Santa Rosa, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Gary Nadler (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Nadler joins JAMS after serving as a judge on the Sonoma County Superior Court for 20 years. During his time on the bench, he focused on resolving complex civil matters and case management prior to trial.

While on the bench, Judge Nadler was elected presiding judge by his judicial colleagues for two terms. Additionally, he was appointed to the Judicial Council of California by the chief justice of the Supreme Court of California for two consecutive terms. He was appointed as a pro tem justice to the First District Court of Appeal in 2022. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Nadler was an AV-rated attorney. His law practice included antitrust, personal injury, complex business litigation, construction defect litigation and employment matters.

Based in the Santa Rosa and San Francisco Resolution Centers, Judge Nadler will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/discovery referee and neutral evaluator, handling business/commercial, construction defect, estate/probate/trust, employment, personal injury/torts and real estate cases. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country.

Judge Nadler is well regarded for his ability to take on highly emotional and complex cases, leveraging his decades of experience across areas of the law to help parties reach a resolution. We are confident that his background and passion for ADR will make him an excellent fit on the JAMS panel.

 - Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

As a neutral, Judge Nadler is known for his clear and focused understanding of the factual and legal issues, as well as the personal dynamics of the parties. He was an instructor at B.E. Witkin Judicial College of California from 2004 through 2019 and an adjunct professor of law at the University of San Francisco School of Law from 1996 to 2015.

Striking a balance between the specific details of a case and the emotions of the parties involved is a critical element to successful dispute resolution. Over my years of service as a judge—and now as an ADR professional with JAMS—I am committed to continuing to work with parties to seek equitable outcomes. I look forward to this next chapter in my career.

-Hon. Gary Nadler (Ret.)

Judge Nadler earned his B.A., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco Law School.
