Irvine – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is proud to share that Hon. Glenda Sanders (Ret.) will be honored with the 2023 Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

The annual award recognizes attorneys and retired judges who make exceptional contributions not only to the legal profession, but also to the community. Jurisprudence honorees serve as role models of ethics and leadership in the legal community and embody the ADL’s vision and mission "to secure justice and fair treatment to all."

Since 1993, the ADL has presented the Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award, which was created in memory of Marcus M. Kaufman, the 103rd Justice of the California Supreme Court and a champion for civil rights.

“We are pleased to see Judge Sanders recognized for her ethics and strong leadership within the legal community. She is steadfast in her commitment to creating a fairer, more inclusive justice system. We congratulate her on this award and are grateful to have her as one of our panelists.”

 - Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Judge Sanders joined JAMS after a distinguished judicial career, where she served on the bench of the Orange County Superior Court for 20 years, including six years on the Complex Civil Litigation Panel. During her time on the bench, she served as the supervising judge of the Civil Panel, chairperson of the court’s Finance Committee and presiding judge of the Orange County Superior Court, California’s third-largest court. Throughout her career, Judge Sanders has devoted much of her time to pro bono work and has remained committed to supporting access to the courts and protecting the integrity of the judicial system.

In her role at JAMS, Judge Sanders serves as an arbitrator, mediator, special master and neutral evaluator, handling a wide variety of complex cases including class actions and mass torts, business and commercial, health care, intellectual property, and professional liability disputes.

The award will be presented on Sept. 21, 2023, at the ADL’s Annual Awards Dinner and was highlighted during the April 20 ADL meeting.
