Hon. Judith H. Ramseyer (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Seattle

Former superior court judge joins JAMS as arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator

New Panelist Announcement

Seattle – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Judith H. Ramseyer (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Ramseyer joins JAMS with over three decades of legal experience, most recently having served on the bench of the King County Superior Court. Judge Ramseyer was elected to the superior court in 2012, while maintaining a solo practice specializing in business/commercial litigation and family law.

As a judge, Judge Ramseyer presided over the entire range of matters brought to the superior court, conducted settlement conferences and held leadership roles locally and statewide. Earlier in her career, she represented both plaintiffs and defendants at a small civil rights law firm and two large, national law firms. She has litigated matters involving personal injury, business and commercial disputes, class and shareholder derivative actions, professional negligence, consumer protection, product liability, employment, insurance coverage, real estate and domestic relations.

Based in the Seattle Resolution Center, Judge Ramseyer will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator, handling business/commercial, product liability, professional liability, personal injury/torts, real property, family law, insurance and civil rights cases. She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country.

During her many years of experience, Judge Ramseyer has approached cases with creativity, tenacity and a relaxed demeanor. She is respected within the legal community as an impartial jurist, one that understands the nuances of parties’ perspectives.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Judge Ramseyer served as president of the Superior Court Judges’ Association from 2020 to 2021, working collaboratively and innovatively within the courts and across system partners. She also served as chief of “The Fire Brigade” of the Bench-Bar-Press Liaison Committee from 2018 to 2023, advising and training judicial officers and media representatives across Washington to resolve disputes related to open courts and public access to court proceedings. Additionally, she has trained as a mental health counselor and channels that skill set to help all participants feel respected and heard, and to understand how decisions that affect them are made.

When handling complex cases, strong preparation and the ability to connect with individuals of all different walks of life is key. I am passionate about finding equitable resolutions for parties across a wide range of practice areas and am looking forward to applying my knowledge and skill set as a JAMS neutral.

- Hon. Judith H. Ramseyer (Ret.)

Judge Ramseyer received her B.A. from Eckerd College; her M.A. in mental health counseling from Seattle University; and her J.D., summa cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law.
