Judge Chad Allred (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Seattle

Retired superior court judge and former U.S. Coast Guard officer joins JAMS as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator

New Panelist Announcement

Seattle – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Judge Chad Allred (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Allred joins JAMS after serving for a decade on the King County Superior Court, where he presided over more than 200 trials, as well as numerous appeals from state agencies and courts of limited jurisdiction.

Judge Allred has over 25 years of experience resolving complex and challenging civil disputes. While on the bench, he served on the court’s governing Executive Committee and as chief judge of the Maleng Regional Justice Center. Before joining the bench, Judge Allred served in private practice and handled trials and appeals in federal and state courts and litigated claims across a wide variety of practice areas, industries and locations.

Based in the Seattle Resolution Center, Judge Allred will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator, handling business/commercial; employment; construction; real estate and real property; securities; insurance; estate, probate and trusts; professional liability; personal injury/torts; product liability; and federal cases. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country.

Judge Allred is well respected within the Seattle legal community for his keen sense of determining when a case is ready for resolution—a skill he honed through his many years both in practice and on the bench. Those who have worked with him commend his calm, optimistic nature, which is an asset when working with parties to find meaningful, effective resolutions to their conflicts.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Earlier in his career, Judge Allred served as an officer in the United States Coast Guard (Reserve), where his assignments included the JAG program and leading law enforcement and maritime security teams. As a JAG officer, he qualified as a contingency mission lawyer and advised command staff on maritime issues. Additionally, he has taught on numerous topics, including best practices for summary judgment motions, effectively using jury instructions, Washington’s Trust and Estate Dispute Resolution Act (TEDRA) and the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

As a civil litigator, military attorney and judge, I have had the opportunity to wear many hats and build a variety of skills that will translate to my new practice at JAMS. Each position that I have held throughout my career has reinforced and expanded my understanding of how conflicts emerge, how they evolve into legal disputes and how to resolve them efficiently and effectively. I look forward to this next chapter of my career at JAMS.

- Judge Chad Allred (Ret.)

Judge Allred earned his B.A. from Abilene Christian University and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
