Panelist News

Washington, D.C. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Kim M. Keenan, Esq., has been named the recipient of the Peggy A. Quince Luminary Award by Phi Alpha Delta, the world’s preeminent law fraternity.

Named for Justice Peggy Quince, the first African American woman initiated into Phi Alpha Delta, the award is presented to an African American member who has broken barriers in their legal career or has been a catalyst for change in the legal profession throughout their career. Justice Quince was the 79th justice of the Florida Supreme Court and served on that court from 1999 to 2019. From 2008 to 2010, she served as the chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court, the first African American woman to lead a branch of Florida government.

Throughout her career, Justice Quince was a trailblazer who paved the way for future generations of African American women to build meaningful careers within the law. Ms. Keenan’s decades-long career has followed a similar path and has been marked by incredible accomplishments along the way. She is known for her inclusive style and balanced and collaborative approach, which has allowed her to forge genuine connections with those around her. This recognition is well deserved, and we congratulate her.

Ms. Keenan is a past president of the District of Columbia Bar and was the 62nd past president of the National Bar Association, the largest coalition of African American lawyers, judges, law professors and law students. She was the only female co-chair of the Internet Innovation Alliance, a broad-based coalition of business and nonprofit organizations working to ensure every American has access to broadband internet.
