San Francisco – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Michael A. Jacobs has joined its panel. Mr. Jacobs joins JAMS following decades of experience working as a trial attorney at the international law firm Morrison Foerster.
As a litigator, Mr. Jacobs tried numerous high-profile cases to juries, judges and arbitrators, and co-founded and led his firm’s intellectual property litigation group. Throughout his years in private practice, he handled cases across a variety of practice areas, including intellectual property, life sciences, and business and commercial. He has also served as a recurring speaker for the Practising Law Institute and faculty member for the annual FJC-BCLT IP Education Program for Federal Judges.
Based in the San Francisco Resolution Center, Mr. Jacobs will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator, handling business/commercial, intellectual property, international/cross-border, life sciences and professional liability cases. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
Mr. Jacobs is widely recognized for his skill set as a litigator and leader within the California legal community. He is nimble in his ability to understand cases, work with parties and develop solutions that meet their needs. We are confident that he’ll make an excellent addition to our panel in San Francisco.
- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO
In his trial practice, Mr. Jacobs also gained substantial experience in ADR, as both an advocate and a neutral. He has served as a sole arbitrator or panel chair in a dozen arbitrations involving attorney-client or attorney-attorney fee disputes, and he has evaluated and mediated another dozen intellectual property and technology disputes. His practice often involved non-U.S. parties and the application of foreign law.
Litigation taught me the power of active listening, meticulous preparation and attention to detail. I bring that same empathetic, hardworking spirit to my role as a neutral.
- Michael A. Jacobs
Mr. Jacobs earned his B.A., With Honors, from Stanford University and his J.D. from Yale Law School.
