San Diego – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Cynthia H. Cwik, Esq., FCIArb, has joined its panel. Ms. Cwik joins JAMS with more than 30 years of litigation and ADR experience.
For 20 years, Ms. Cwik worked in private practice as a litigation partner at global law firms Jones Day and Latham & Watkins. In this role, she represented clients in complex commercial litigation and ADR matters, with an emphasis on cases involving science, technology and health care issues. She has also acted as an advocate in many high-value commercial ADR proceedings. For the past several years, she has worked as a senior legal advisor and independent arbitrator and mediator. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Based in the San Diego Resolution Center, Ms. Cwik will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, neutral evaluator and special master/referee, handling business and commercial, health care and life sciences, class actions and mass torts, energy and utilities, international and cross-border, cybersecurity and privacy, environmental, personal injury and financial markets/banking/securities matters. She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
“Ms. Cwik has an extensive background with high-stakes commercial cases and a deep knowledge of science and cutting-edge technologies that will allow her to resolve complex legal disputes in her new role at JAMS. She is well known in the legal profession for her attention to detail and extensive track record. We look forward to having her join the JAMS panel.”
Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president
In addition to her litigation experience, Ms. Cwik has deep knowledge regarding emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and data privacy and cybersecurity. She is the co-editor of the book Artificial Intelligence: Legal Issues, Policy, and Practical Strategies (2024). She has held several leadership positions, including serving as chair of the American Bar Association Science & Technology Law Section and president and chair of the Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Association, where she continues to serve as a lifetime honorary member. She is a frequent speaker and author on science and technology issues in the law, and she has devoted significant time to pro bono and public service initiatives around San Diego.
“I have learned through my decades of experience in the legal profession that even the most complex of disputes can come to a successful resolution by considering the differing points of view of the parties and building a consensus. I look forward to bringing the diligence, patience and knowledge base that I have developed throughout my legal career to JAMS so that I can continue to help my clients here work through their disputes,” said Ms. Cwik.
Ms. Cwik earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Yale College and her J.D. from Yale Law School.
