A Town Hall on ADR Solutions During COVID-19: Learn the Virtual Ropes – Interactive Mock Virtual Mediation Session (Webinar)

Presented by New York State Bar Association, Commercial and Federal Litigation Section

With the reality of an extended and gradual return to a “new normal”—and the likelihood of disrupted court dockets for many months--we are all feeling the increased pressure to consider virtual dispute resolution options. In this webinar, Vivien Shelanski will lead advocates and parties through a hypothetical virtual mediation session using the Zoom platform. This process will illustrate how current video mediations function, including:

  • Important new factors to consider in the pre-session preparation steps,
  • Getting comfortable with the virtual platform (addressing privacy and confidentiality concerns, building comfort with the new bells and whistles, lining up alternate simultaneous communication channels)
  • Advocacy tips for this “new normal” (facilitating meaningful connections and reading the virtual room, remote testimony techniques, successfully sharing exhibits, signing and executing agreements)
