Los Angeles – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is proud to announce that Judge Diane Wayne (Ret.) received the Ernestine Stahlhut Award from the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles at its Annual Awards and Installation event on September 21.
“We are thrilled that Judge Wayne received this recognition by WLALA,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “As one of our most talented and well-respected neutrals, this is an honor she truly deserves.”
The Ernestine Stahlhut award is given annually to a woman in the legal profession who has attained the respect, admiration and affection of the Bench and Bar by her outstanding character, dedication to service and her significant contributions to the cause of justice. It’s also given to a woman who has challenged women in the legal profession to excel, and who has been an encouragement to young women to seek the law as a profession.
“I’m happy to receive the Ernestine Stahlhut award and am extremely honored to be listed among so many women that I admire,” said Judge Wayne.
In her acceptance speech, Judge Wayne said that WLALA has a remarkable history of helping women locally and statewide and she encouraged members of the organization to join her in supporting international rule of law efforts that would help advance the status of women globally to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women.
Judge Wayne is widely recognized for her professional competence and approachable manner. She is one of California’s most highly regarded panelists and serves as a mediator, arbitrator and discovery referee. Since joining JAMS nearly 15 years ago, Judge Wayne has built a reputation for successfully resolving complicated cases and often employs innovative techniques to help the parties reach resolution.
Judge Candace Cooper (Ret.), another JAMS panelist, received the Ernestine Stahlhut award in 1989.
