Toronto, Canada – JAMS, the largest provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the opening of a Resolution Centre in Toronto. Gordon Kaiser, FCIArb; Harvey J. Kirsh, Esq.; and The Honourable J. Edgar Sexton, Q.C., who recently joined JAMS as mediators and arbitrators, will be based in the office.
The Resolution Centre is located in the Toronto Dominion Towers, a six-acre complex located at the centre of Canada’s financial capital. With more than 7,000 square feet, the JAMS facility features more than 10 conference and break out rooms, a business centre for clients, a sound buffering system for complete privacy between rooms and the signature JAMS Café with refreshments and snacks.
“As more Canadian courts and organizations embrace ADR, it’s an exciting time to provide our high quality mediation and arbitration services to a market that has not been fully serviced until now,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “We’re seeing an increasing trend in international arbitrations and we know Toronto will play a major role in that arena. We’re thrilled to enter the Canadian legal market with such a highly talented and experienced panel.”
Gordon Kaiser, FCIArb is an accomplished arbitrator in domestic and international energy infrastructure and commercial contract disputes. He served as Vice Chairman of the Ontario Energy Board for six years and has advised the Alberta Utilities Commission on settlements with the Market Surveillance Administrator.
Harvey J. Kirsh, Esq. is a recognized authority in construction law. He has been designated as a “Certified Specialist in Construction Law” (C.S.), and has almost 40 years in the arbitration, mediation and litigation of complex construction claims and disputes arising out of significant infrastructure, engineering, industrial, commercial, and institutional projects, both domestically and internationally.
The Honourable J. Edgar Sexton, Q.C. has 13 years of experience as a judge in the Federal Court of Appeal in Canada. Before becoming a judge, Justice Sexton carried on a full-time practice in the courts and in arbitration. He was chairman and senior partner for 12 years of the international law firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt headquartered in Toronto.
The JAMS Toronto official address is 77 King Street W., Suite 2020, P.O. Box 19, Toronto, ON M5K 1A1 Canada.
