Hon. Raymond J. Ikola (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Orange County

Former appellate justice joins JAMS as mediator, arbitrator, special master/referee, neutral evaluator and hearing officer

New Panelist Announcement

Irvine, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Raymond J. Ikola (Ret.) to its panel. Justice Ikola served as an associate justice on the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Three, for over 18 years, authoring more than 1,500 opinions on a wide range of topics, 190 of which were published. He previously served for seven years on the Orange County Superior Court, where he sat on the unlimited civil panel, the high-impact trial team, the appellate division of the Superior Court and the complex civil litigation panel. He served as supervising judge of the civil panel in 2000.

Based in the Orange County Resolution Center, Justice Ikola will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee, neutral evaluator and hearing officer, handling business and commercial, construction defect, employment, environmental, personal injury and torts, real property, insurance, family law and appellate disputes. He is available to conduct sessions in person (adhering to reopening guidelines), as well as virtually for attorneys and their clients across the country.

Justice Ikola has extensive knowledge of the law, and his calm, guiding force has assisted parties in resolving their matters. Because of his thoughtfulness, dedication and listening skills, we know he will make an excellent addition as a neutral at JAMS.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Justice Ikola practiced civil business litigation in Orange County for more than 20 years. He handled a wide variety of business and commercial matters, with a heavy emphasis on protecting proprietary rights in system-level software, air carrier access to airports and real property litigation.

Throughout my career, I’ve found that preparation and the ability to observe and truly connect with the parties are instrumental in helping to resolve disputes. I’m eager to apply my knowledge and leverage my experience as I begin this new chapter as a JAMS neutral.

- Hon. Raymond J. Ikola (Ret.)

Justice Ikola received his B.S.E. from the University of Michigan, his Ph.D. in electrophysics from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now Polytechnic Institute of NYU) and his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
