The Profiles in Diversity Journal Honors Mark Smalls as 2022 Diversity Leader

Irvine, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is proud to announce that Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Mark Smalls has been selected as a recipient of the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 2022 Diversity Leader Award.

The Diversity Leader Award recognizes those who work every day to expand and improve diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace and beyond.

Mark has always been passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion at JAMS and in the legal industry as a whole. His leadership has brought JAMS to the forefront of diversity efforts in the alternative dispute resolution industry. We are thrilled to congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.

Mr. Smalls currently chairs the JAMS Diversity Committee and has championed advancement of numerous DEI initiatives within the organization, including the JAMS Diversity Fellowship Program. In 2018, JAMS became the first major ADR provider to introduce an inclusion clause into its contracts, encouraging businesses to select diverse panelists in arbitration matters. Additionally in 2019, under Mr. Smalls’ leadership, JAMS set an example for the industry, becoming the first major ADR provider create a position that is fully dedicated to diversity and inclusion, hiring Joanne Saint Louis as its first Diversity Program Manager.

It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as a Diversity Leader. I am proud to work at an organization that places such importance on diversity, equity and inclusion, and to have colleagues who recognize and support the important efforts we have been putting in place for many years. I look forward to continuing to advance these initiatives and ensuring JAMS continues to be a leader in diversity and inclusion in ADR.

Mr. Smalls oversees marketing and communications strategy globally for JAMS and provides leadership to managers tasked with business development responsibilities. In addition to his role on the JAMS Diversity Committee, he also serves on the board of the JAMS Foundation.
