Mr. McGough brings over two decades of distinguished experience in dispute resolution and has successfully mediated over 1,500 disputes and trained over 1,000 mediators across the country.
With experience as a commercial litigator, an entrepreneur, a federal prosecutor and an elected official, Mr. McGough is known as a creative problem-solver and a servant leader. He has navigated complex cases across industries, including municipal government and public policy, business and commercial, higher education, public safety, personal injury and employment. He is a sought-after speaker and trainer in negotiation and conflict management.
Based in the Dallas Resolution Center, Mr. McGough will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and neutral evaluator, handing business and commercial, employment, entertainment and sports, estate/probate/trusts, government/public agency, higher education/Title IX, personal injury and real property cases. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
Mr. McGough stands out for his creative problem-solving skills and ability to lead thoughtfully with the perspectives and needs of multiple stakeholders in mind. He is dedicated to serving in both the legal and civic spaces, and we are so pleased to welcome him to our panel.

During his four-term tenure on the Dallas City Council, Mr. McGough held a variety of positions, including being elected to the board of directors of the National League of Cities, being appointed to the Regional Transportation Counsel, serving as the chair of public safety, and leading the responses to Ebola, COVID and multiple weather-related crises. He has also served as a chief of staff, chief of community prosecution, deputy mayor and special assistant U.S. attorney. Through each of these roles, he has demonstrated a unique ability to serve clients with efficiency and effectiveness.
I have been fortunate throughout my career to have the opportunity to wear many hats and serve my community in Dallas in different ways. Through my work, I have developed a deep understanding of how parties can work together and the motivations and perspectives that shape a successful dispute resolution process. I look forward to continuing my work at JAMS.

Mr. McGough earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. He also earned an LL.M. from Pepperdine School of Law.
