Hon. Carlos R. Moreno (Ret.) Receives Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer Award From LACBA

Award recognizes individuals who have made an extraordinary contribution to improving the administration of justice

Awards Panelist News

Irvine, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Carlos R. Moreno (Ret.) will be honored with the Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer Award by the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA). The award was presented at the association’s Installation and Awards Dinner on June 27 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.

The Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer Award is given to an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to improving the administration of justice, and it recognizes an individual’s contributions as a lawyer, as distinguished from contributions made as a jurist or while on the bench. The award, originally named the Shattuck-Price Memorial Award, was established by the LACBA Board of Trustees in 1968 to commemorate past LACBA presidents Edward S. Shattuck and Ira M. Price II.

LACBA is one of the largest voluntary bar associations in the United States and provides premier and relevant continuing legal education year-round, with a focus on addressing equity and inclusion and being the conduit to underrepresented members of the legal community. LACBA is also one of the first bar associations to have a vice president for diversity, inclusion and outreach as well as an active Diversity in the Legal Profession Section.

Justice Moreno is a champion for promoting equity within the law and a leader in the Southern California community. Throughout his career, he has served as an advocate for improving transparency, accountability and the overall judicial process. We are proud to see him recognized by LACBA and are honored to have him as one of our panelists.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

He was the third Latino to serve on the Supreme Court of California. He also served for 15 years as a trial judge in state and federal courts, presiding over hundreds of trials covering the full spectrum of criminal and civil litigation.

In his role at JAMS, Justice Moreno serves as a mediator, arbitrator, special master and neutral case evaluator, handling appellate, business/commercial, civil rights, employment, insurance and intellectual property matters.
