Sylvia Hinds-Radix (Ret.) has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Ruth G. Schapiro Memorial Award by the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) Women in Law Section. The award was presented at the NYSBA’s Annual Meeting on Jan. 17.

Presented annually since 1992, the Ruth G. Schapiro Memorial Award honors a member of the NYSBA who has made a noteworthy contribution to the concerns of women through pro bono services, writing, service to bar associations, community organizations or other such endeavors. The award was established in honor of the Women in Law Section’s first chair, Ruth G. Schapiro. This section of the NYSBA serves as an advocate for professional women, with the goal of advancing women in the legal profession and all women under the law.

“Judge Hinds-Radix’s career has been defined by her investments into advancing the law in a way that prioritizes access, fairness and equity. She is a trailblazer and leader who has elevated the standard for what it means to conduct your work with integrity, empathy and dignity. We congratulate her on this outstanding recognition from the NYSBA’s Women in Law Section and are proud to have her on our panel.”
