JAMS Neutral Chris M. Kwok, Esq., Co-Edits Report on Solutions to Address Racially Motivated Hate Against Asian Americans in New York and Beyond

Kwok, Esq., for his efforts to foster conversation and propose solutions to address racially motivated hate and violence against Asian Americans in New York City and beyond.  

Mr. Kwok, board member of the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) and Co-chair of the Issues Committee and the Asia Practice Committee, served as the co-executive editor of the recently released report “A Rising Tide of Hate and Violence Against Asian Americans in New York During COVID-19: Impact, Causes, Solutions,” which was published by AABANY in collaboration with the law firm Paul Weiss.

This report documents data showing the increase in anti-Asian hate and violence, particularly in the New York City region, during the pandemic. It also examines contributing factors and assesses actions taken by politicians, law enforcement and community organizations to address hate incidents. With an eye to the path forward, the report proposes seven initiatives to spur dialogue and discourse that will help break the cycle of violence against Asian Americans.

Chris saw an opportunity to leverage his skills and experience as a distinguished ADR professional to help craft proactive and inclusive solutions to combat hate and violence, and we are tremendously proud of his work in conflict resolution.
