Herbert Stettin, Retired Judge, Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Florida Joins JAMS in Miami

Former circuit court judge joins JAMS as arbitrator, mediator and special master/referee

New Panelist Announcement

Miami – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Herbert Stettin, Retired Judge, Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Florida, to its panel. Mr. Stettin comes to JAMS with over 25 years’ experience providing mediation, arbitration and other ADR services in the South Florida region. He also practiced law for over 35 years, specializing in commercial and bankruptcy litigation.

Based in the Miami Resolution Center, Mr. Stettin will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master/referee, handling bankruptcy and commercial disputes. He is available to conduct sessions virtually for attorneys and their clients across the country.

Mr. Stettin is recognized for his extensive experience in bankruptcy and commercial litigation. This background, combined with his deep understanding of ADR, will provide him with a strong foundation for resolving disputes as a JAMS neutral.

Formerly a senior judge, Mr. Stettin served as a circuit court judge in the civil, probate and criminal divisions of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida in Miami-Dade County; as a senior circuit judge in the civil division of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Florida in Broward County; and as an associate judge on the Fourth District Court of Appeal.

Mr. Stettin has mediated and arbitrated more than 2,500 cases, including class actions, derivative claims, fraud claims, insurance coverage issues, commercial matters, construction litigation and bankruptcy disputes. Additionally, he has conducted hundreds of arbitrations, including those involving complex commercial disputes.

Resolving disputes is the art of what is possible under the circumstances. For over 30 years, I have used my knowledge of the facts and law to help lead parties to a just and fair outcome. I’m looking forward to continuing resolving disputes in this new role on the JAMS panel.

He received his B.A. from Queens College, M.A. from Harvard University and J.D. from the University of Miami.
