Panelist News Awards

Oakland, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Randa M. Trapp (Ret.) will be presented with the Judicial Excellence Award by the California Association of Black Lawyers (CABL). The association honors justices and judges who have made significant contributions to the judiciary and the African American legal community.

The award will be presented during the California Association of Black Lawyers’ 45th Annual Conference on June 24 in Oakland, California. The theme of this year’s conference is “Confronting Racial Inequity and Driving Transformative Change,” and will celebrate the association’s achievements over the past year, as well as attorneys and judges who have made significant contributions to the community. JAMS neutral Hon. Candace Cooper (Ret.) was a previous featured speaker at this event.

Since its founding in 1977, CABL, a nonprofit organization, has been the only statewide legal professional organization that represents the interests of African American attorneys, judicial officers, law professors and law students. Its mission is to eradicate racism, ensure justice within the legal system, change the face of California’s judiciary and generally support African American attorneys and judicial officers.

Judge Trapp has made tremendous contributions within the California legal community over her distinguished career, and we are proud to see her recognized with this outstanding award. We are fortunate to have Judge Trapp as a member of our JAMS panel and offer her our congratulations.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Judge Trapp joined JAMS following 18 years of service on the San Diego Superior Court. During her time on the bench, Judge Trapp presided over more than 100 civil jury trials and handled complex civil cases. She was elected to serve two terms on the court’s Executive Committee and was elevated to assistant supervising judge and then supervising judge of the Civil Division.
