Las Vegas – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Jim Crockett (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Crockett served as a district court judge for the Nevada Eighth Judicial District Court from 2015 through the end of 2020, presiding over and/or conducting civil matters including trials, law and motion calendars and judicial settlement conferences.
Since he retired from the bench in 2021, Judge Crockett has been a senior district court judge for the State of Nevada and has handled over 100 settlement conferences covering a broad range of legal issues, from personal injury and wrongful death cases to wills, estates, trusts and real estate and commercial disputes. Before serving on the bench, he was a trial lawyer for over 40 years, handling personal injury matters, with extensive experience in cases involving wrongful death and serious bodily injury resulting from motor vehicle accidents, defective products and medical malpractice.
Based in the Las Vegas Resolution Center, Judge Crockett will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator, handling business and commercial, personal injury, product liability, professional liability and real property. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for attorneys and their clients across the country.
Judge Crockett is known for his attention to detail, patience and ability to understand even the most difficult and contentious of disputes. We are thrilled to have him join the JAMS panel and are confident he will succeed in this new role.
- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO
While he was still practicing, Judge Crockett was rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. He was board certified as a civil trial lawyer by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 1983 and maintained that certification throughout his career. He received the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award from the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association and the Ray Badger Award for Distinguished Service to the Nevada Justice Association. He was chosen by his peers as a Super Lawyer and was a member of the Multi-Million-Dollar Advocates.
With almost 50 years’ experience as a trial lawyer and judge, I’ve seen a lot, from the thrill of victory to the agony of defeat. This breadth of experience and deep understanding of litigation and trials fuels my resolve as a mediator and arbitrator. I’m looking forward to bringing this experience and perspective to the panel at JAMS.
- Hon. Jim Crockett (Ret.)
Judge Crockett received his B.A. from Loyola Marymount University and his J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law at University of the Pacific.
