David L. Lillehaug, Retired Justice, Minnesota Supreme Court, Joins JAMS in Minneapolis

Former Minnesota Supreme Court justice joins JAMS as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator

Minneapolis – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that David L. Lillehaug, Retired Justice, Minnesota Supreme Court has joined its panel. Justice Lillehaug joins JAMS with high-level federal and state experience as a Minnesota Supreme Court justice and a United States attorney for the District of Minnesota, along with decades of work in private practice.

During seven years on the Minnesota Supreme Court, Justice Lillehaug sat on more than 600 cases and wrote over 140 opinions. He was the court’s liaison to its committees on professional responsibility, evidence and alternative dispute resolution. In private practice, Justice Lillehaug’s clients included Fortune 100 companies, his state’s highest-ranking public officials, the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the University of Minnesota, tribal nations and pro bono litigants.

Based in the Minneapolis Resolution Center, Justice Lillehaug will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator, handling government and public agency, construction, business and commercial, health care, professional liability, appellate, administrative law, and real estate and disputes. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually.

Early in his career, Justice Lillehaug served as the U.S. attorney for the District of Minnesota. He has experience in matters at the intersection of civil, criminal and regulatory law, such as white-collar and corporate internal investigations. He also has a deep background in real estate and construction litigation. and was the founding chair of the construction law section of his state bar association and is an honorary fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. Additionally, his state’s U.S. senators have twice appointed him to committees to recommend new federal judges.

Justice Lillehaug earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Augustana College and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
