Irvine, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Judge Rebecca Westerfield (Ret.) will receive the Distinguished Jurist Award from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law.

Presented annually, the Distinguished Jurist Award recognizes University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law alumni who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to the legal profession. Contributions can include undertaking a specific civic or community project that brings honor to the profession or encourages creative ways to deal with specific identified issues involved in the administration of justice in their local community, state or nation. Nominees are required to demonstrate a high standard of ethical conduct, fairness in all court proceedings and a consistent understanding of and appreciation for the art of trial patience.

Throughout her career, Judge Westerfield has been at the forefront of the alternative dispute resolution space and has served as an example for her fellow mediators. We are deeply grateful for her service as a JAMS panelist for the past three decades and congratulate her on this much-deserved award.

A full-time JAMS neutral since 1992, Judge Westerfield has settled and arbitrated thousands of domestic cases and cross-border disputes throughout the United States. She is known for her tenacious, efficient and fair approach to ADR.

Judge Westerfield has regularly been featured on the National Mediators list by Chambers USA, and her extensive experience includes complex, multi-party, multi-issue cases with underlying insurance coverage disputes. She is particularly adept at dealing with matters that involve cross-cultural dynamics and high emotional content, such as business dissolutions, catastrophic personal injury litigation and family estate matters.
