Hon. Dean Pregerson (Ret.) U.S. District Judge Joins JAMS in Los Angeles

Former federal judge joins JAMS as a mediator, arbitrator, court-appointed neutral (special master/referee) and neutral evaluator

New Panelist Announcement

Los Angeles – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce Hon. Dean Pregerson (Ret.) has joined its panel. Judge Pregerson joins JAMS following nearly 29 years of experience serving on the United States District Court, Central District of California, along with years in private practice.

Judge Pregerson has presided over thousands of civil cases, conducted approximately 80 jury trials and sat regularly by designation on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, authoring 11 published opinions and numerous other appellate dispositions. His work spanned numerous practice areas and industries, including antitrust, business and commercial, civil rights, entertainment, aviation, and insurance. Because federal actions frequently include state claims, Judge Pregerson’s experience encompasses both state and federal law.

Based in the Los Angeles Resolution Center and Century City Resolution Center, Judge Pregerson will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, court-appointed neutral and neutral evaluator, handling antitrust, aviation, business and commercial, class action and mass tort, civil rights, entertainment and sports, higher education and Title IX, insurance, intellectual property, personal injury and tort, product liability, and real estate and real property matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

“Judge Pregerson brings an extraordinary legacy of service from the California federal bench to JAMS. His extensive judicial experience and deep command of the law will serve him well in his new role as a JAMS neutral. His thoughtful, pragmatic approach—rooted in integrity—will undoubtedly resonate with attorneys and their clients as they work to resolve even the most complex of matters.”

Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president

Judge Pregerson has engaged in numerous professional and educational programs, including those sponsored by the UCLA, USC, Southwestern, Pepperdine and Loyola Schools of Law. He was also a regular guest lecture at the UCLA Anderson School of Business. He is also a former pilot.

“As a trial attorney, I learned the art of settlement from some very fine judges. I then built on that experience over almost three decades as a federal judge. For me, very few things are more rewarding than saving parties the risk, expense and stress of protracted litigation. I look forward to bringing my passion for mutually beneficial solutions to the JAMS panel,” said Judge Pregerson.

Judge Pregerson earned his B.A. from UCLA and his J.D. from University of California, Davis School of Law.
